AS successful Early years Teachers and Mum's To seven young children between us we dreamed of a unique and special place where children could learn to find their own way in the world and there was no limitations on learning. We had a vision of A happy place, that felt like home from home  where children could take risks, make mistakes and learn from them. Somewhere that  parents felt as welcomed as the children. Quite simply, we wanted to make a difference.

So... after finally taking the plunge in April 2015 planning was approved and we launched The Barn. Built from start to finish in 6 weeks our doors flew open in September 2015.  And it didn't stop there... 18 months later we extended to add a baby Barn and a year after that Forest School was born. 

​

On 22nd February 2018, Ofsted arrived. We were desperate to share with the inspector our true depth of dedication and the hard work we had devoted to our children and families. But most of all, WE wanted the inspector to see a true reflection of what it was like to be a Barnling, teacher and Parent day in and day out. 

​

Despite being told it wasn't possible... it was. WE achieved Outstanding on our first Ofsted. The feeling of euphoria will stay with us a lifetime.

​

Over the years, our Team has grown beyond belief. Our ethos and family values have attracted so many like minded and passionate individuals that are too, driven to improve outcomes for children. But it doesn't stop there... we really do endeavour to look after our staff family too, trying to go the extra mile, to value everyone's individual effort.

​

One thing is for sure, we never stand still to this day, together,  we strive to be exceptional.

​

in early 2023  we thought 'what next'? So we embarked upon 'The NDNA Quality Counts accreditation' and are awaiting our grading ~ the excitement is immense. 

​

In May, A chance phone call brought about another exciting chapter in the Barn story. The trustees of Colne Engaine Memorial Hall had found themselves in a predicament. The current Setting had announced imminent closure and they were wanted the barn to save the day. 

​

Did we mention that alongside such excitement we also applied to become to be an early years' stronger practice hub for the east of England, one of 18 hubs nationally. But that's another story!

​

We are a true life example that hard work conquers all and that  anything is possible if you believe it so. WE are immensely proud of #teambarn and we are who we are because of every single soul that has walked through our door.
